Neck brace

Neck braces are sometimes not only used as therapeutic measures, but also for diagnostic purposes, meaning, to predict the success of a possible cervical spine surgery. Often the patient is advised to wear the neck brace for a period of 2 weeks straight, in which time her or she has to observe closely how the symptoms develop.

If the symptoms disappear completely or at least decrease significantly, it would be seen as indication for surgery. On the other hand, if the symptoms remain unchanged, surgery is rather questionable.
